Picturesque villages, hospitable
people
The villages of Bulgaria have kept
the spirit and traditions of the Bulgarian people. Those who
have chosen to stay at a village guest house get acquainted
with the rustic life and all the activities that are characteristic
of the peasant everyday routine. They take part in tending
the farm animals and the garden, in household chores. They
make merry together with the hosts, as Bulgarians from immemorial
times did.
The countryside around a village is a bright bouquet of forms,
of colors and of smells. It’s everywhere: in the garden, in
the meadow, in the forest, by the road and on the glen near
the river. It heals the body and the soul alike just being
there, just by its vigor and its smile.
The air in the country is crystal clear and soaked with natural
smells. Here it’s easy for you to distinguish the scent of
pine resin, of wild geranium and of sweet-smelling herbs.
It’s enough to inhale a little of it to feel charged with
a positive energy for at least a week. Here everything is
natural and pure, and the silence is the balm for the urban
soul grown tired with the noise and the stress. The silence
leaves you alone with your thoughts and you are able to penetrate
the innermost recesses of your soul.
The people in the country are another great asset. They are
few, living a life that agrees with nature, they are good-hearted
and kind. They are ever ready to have you as their guest,
to treat you and be of service to you. They are in close contact
with nature, keeping the traditions and their roots alive,
and their needs are modest. Many of them live to be a hundred,
yet their walk is sprightly; they keep working as long as
they live in the fields, tending the animals, assist their
children sending them produce and preserves. They are on their
own, intelligent and efficient till the end of their days.
Their life is natural and strong. Those are genuine men and
women, fully human and alive.
The one who has once visited a Bulgarian village will always
carry some of its marvelous beauty and he will forever strive
for it as for something dear, heartfelt and precious! |
